SCHOOL SUPPORT ASSISTANT

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Mary Savioli Pallotta Educational Center is a 766 approved private school serving emotionally disabled and learning disabled students ages 4-13. The School Support Assistant (SSA) holds a multifaceted position at the Pallotta Educational Center. The SSA’s primary tasks involve a variety of clerical duties, including: greeting visitors, answering phones, working cooperatively with staff, students, parents, and collateral contacts, and will also serve as a backup/fill in for Assistant Teachers by working with students in the classroom when assigned.
The SSA will be given clerical and administrative support projects including but not limited to: filing, scanning, copying, faxing, emailing, computer based reports/projects, and other projects as assigned. The SSA will also be trained as a classroom support staff in order to fill in and work with students as assigned. In this role, the SSA will support students in the classroom under the direction of the lead Special Education Teacher in order to offer support to student with special educational and behavioral needs. This includes helping students with academics, behavior management, and monitoring of students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administrative Support:
- Greet and direct visitors and clients to the appropriate locations
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls, take messages; Communicate important messages when needed by email or phone
- Coordination of Quarterly and IEP meetings for school
- Photocopy, file, mail, and track all school correspondence
- Track attendance for each student in the education and afterschool program
- Set up and maintain all school files
- Review files for Quarterly Case Record Reviews
- Request and distribute school records as needed
- Order and maintain inventory of all supplies for the school
- Serve as back up for other Administration and reception support staff as assigned
- Assist with special projects as assigned
Classroom/Student Support:
- Provide academic and behavioral support to classrooms as assigned
- Actively engage and support students with academics and behavior management
- Actively engage and participate in activities with students
- Perform therapeutic physical restraint as necessary
- Treat students and coworkers with patience, empathy, and compassion
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
- Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred

OUT OF SCHOOL TIME LEADER

The Out of School Time Leader (OOSTL) is a member of the after school, vacation and summer programs. The (OOSTL) is responsible to provide a productive, interactive and safe environment for Out of School Time program participants. Leaders are expected to be engaged with children at all times. OOSTLs are not only responsible to plan activities but also to actively participate in all program activities. The OOSTL will work in collaboration with other Leaders regarding planning of program schedule, activities and all aspects of programming. OOSTL is responsible for providing the highest quality of care by implementing a nurturing, caring, safe and structured environment for children to thrive and succeed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Programming:
- Engage with children at all times, participate in activities with children. Includes: assisting children with homework, life skills, mentoring, emotional support, on and off campus recreational activities
- Responsible to help create program schedule of activities. Required to participate in activities. Prepare for and adhere to daily schedule
- Direct supervision and management of children at all times. Close monitoring and observation of the children
- Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of the children/clients
- Monitor, manage, demonstrate proper and safe running of the afterschool program by providing and ensuring a safe and caring environment. Follow all safety and reporting procedures
- Provide behavioral and physical intervention in line with agency training and philosophy
- Responsible to monitor cleanliness and appearance of the afterschool space and van
- Transportation of clients to and from the Program and to off campus activities
- Skilled in working collaboratively with others including respectful and professional interactions with coworkers, children and families
Administration:
- Complete serious incident and restraint reports as required, follow protocols to inform the Coordinator and/or Director Of Out Of School Time
- Responsible for completing daily reports
- Prepare and/or assist in generating behavioral reports in all required formats
- Ensure efficient and timely record keeping

LIFEGUARD
JAMAICA PLAIN
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Lifeguard is responsible for the overall safety of the children and pool area. The Lifeguard will perform regular pool upkeep and maintenance as well as regular upkeep of the pool area. The Lifeguard is responsible to pay close attention to all activity in the pool and in the pool area in order to ensure safety protocols and regulations are followed. The position requires evening and weekend shifts.
This includes opening and closing the pool area and following all safety and board of health regulations. ASSISTANT TEACHER

The Mary Savioli Pallotta Educational Center is a 766 approved private school serving ED/LD and PDD students ages 4-13. The Assistant Teacher (AT) works as an assistant to the classroom special education teacher providing academic and behavioral support to students. Assistant Teachers work under the direction of the lead special education teacher. The AT is responsible to carry out the curriculum as created and developed by the lead teacher. ATs are also responsible to work the summer program and assigned school vacation weeks. The Assistant Teacher will ensure that the students’ overall experience is in line with training principles, Italian Home’s treatment philosophy and demonstrates the highest quality of care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation and implementation of daily lesson plans.
- Supervision of Assistant Teachers and Classroom Aides/Childcare Workers in daily classroom functioning and in weekly supervision meetings.
- Assessment and diagnoses of levels and specific learning difficulties and behaviors by way of observation, formal and informal assessment, and ongoing recording of individual student's performance.
- General compliance with MA and Federal Special Education regulations in cooperation with and at the direction of the VP of Educational Programming. This includes written educational assessments and quarterly reports, attendance at IEP Team Evaluation meetings, and the preparation of detailed educational plans for each student.
- Evaluation of Assistant Teachers, interns and special projects in conjunction with the VP of Educational Programming and/or Curriculum Coordinator.
- Attendance at Staff and Supervision meetings.
- Attendance at clinical conferences/progress reviews and the preparation of oral and written reports for such meetings.
- Development of an individual program for all summer school students.
- Assist in Lunch/Recess duty as scheduled.
- Assist the VP of Educational Programming and Curriculum Coordinator in the design of methods for evaluating
- Curriculum and establishing policies regarding the operation of the school program.
- Maintain and increase his/her effectiveness in behavior management and communicating with other professional staff through the use of training, supervision, and consultation.
