CHILD CARE WORKER Job Category: Direct Care - Residential Counselor Location: Italian Home for Children, Jamaica Plain Campus Hours: Full and Part time, Day and Evening shifts, includes weekends Supervisor: Program Supervisor or Unit Coordinator Summary of Position: Directly responsible for the daily implementation of the Home’s treatment philosophy and program. Through limit setting, nurturing and related parenting activities develop a stable, consistent and structured living environment which affords clients the opportunity to learn to replace maladaptive behaviors with more appropriate, socially acceptable behaviors. Essential Functions: • Implementing the level system and other facets of the therapeutic program. • Supervising daily functioning of milieu life (i.e. meal time, ADL’s, chores, bed times, and wake-up routines etc.). • Participating in and /or supervising recreational activities. • Creating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating behavior management programs for clients in conjunction with treatment teams. • Ensuring the safety and support of clients at all times, and processing daily incidents with residents in an appropriate manner. • Acting as a monitor or primary contact for assigned clients when required. • Attending all appropriate meetings for assigned residents. • Attending supervision, in-service training’s and all training/ meetings deemed necessary. • Preparing milieu reports as needed regarding the resident’s progress for assigned presentations. • Transporting clients to appointments, recreational activities, community schools and agencies, home visits and other appointments deemed necessary. • Efficient, professional and legible record/log keeping. • Maintaining appropriate adult-child boundaries. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Education/Experience: High School Graduate or equivalent (GED). Mental Abilities: Ability to develop strong verbal and written communication skills, in conjunction with word processing, organizational skills and motivational abilities. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Strong commitment to supporting, nurturing, teaching, and empowering children. Strong work ethic. Evidence of sensitivity and respect for client’s culture and socioeconomic characteristics. Physical Abilities: Provide therapeutic physical restraint. HOUSE SUPERVISOR Job Category: Direct Care Administrator Location: Italian Home for Children, Jamaica Plain Campus Hours: Full-time, Day and Evening shifts, includes weekends Supervisor: Assistant Program Director Summary of Position: The House Supervisor is responsible for guaranteeing safe and efficient operation of the building. While running the building, the House Supervisor will help to manage staff, coordinate services, and help to ensure a therapeutic milieu. In addition, the House Supervisor will assist in improving overall programming in The Boston Center and Community and Residential Programs. Essential Functions: • House coverage five shifts per week. • Ensure the safety and support of clients and staff during house coverage. • Maintain Attendance and Absence logs. • Assist with staff training and weekly individual and group supervision to milieu staff. • Assist with payroll and schedule of milieu staff. • Manage all relief staff including responsibility for new employees’ six-month adjustment review and annual performance review. • Review Restraint and Serious Incident Reports. • Manage phone calls and on- and off-grounds visits. • Assist in the training, monitoring, and support of newly hired child care workers as deemed necessary. • Meet the needs of the overall milieu, including adjusting schedules or dormitory assignments in conjunction with Program Supervisors and Unit Coordinators. • Coordinate details related to on-and off-grounds activities. • Provide crisis management and support as deemed necessary. • Monitor, perform and assist in providing physical intervention when necessary. • Ensure structure and safety of the therapeutic milieu while providing support and supervision of residents and milieu staff. • Create, implement, monitor, and evaluate behavior management programs for clients in conjunction with the treatment team. • Attend team meetings as deemed necessary. • Communicate with Program Supervisors and Unit Coordinators. • Process concerns and incidents with staff and clients in an appropriate manner as deemed necessary. • Maintain all House logs. • Keep informed of client’s individual plans and needs. HOUSEKEEPER Job Category: Facilities Staff Location: Italian Home for Children, Jamaica Plain Campus Hours: Hourly, non-exempt - Full-time, 40 hrs/wk Supervisor: Facilities Supervisor and Facilities Director Summary of Position: Housekeepers are accountable for the complete spectrum of cleaning of any of the buildings of the Italian Home. Essential Functions: General cleaning of all areas, rubbish removal, washing wall tiles, sweeping, wet mopping, stripping floors and waxing, buffing floors, vacuuming, dusting, wiping walls, moving furniture, window cleaning, cleaning all appliances inside and out, cleaning bathrooms, maintaining individual equipment (vacuum cleaners, mops, buckets and cleaning bags). Responsible for stocking areas with paper products and other necessary dorm supplies; for receiving deliveries, donations and supplies; for helping to set up for special events; for observing and monitoring condition of facility and informing the Facilities Supervisor of areas in need of repairs. Housekeepers are expected to shift duties when fellow employees are absent. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Education/Experience: • High School graduate or GED. • Working knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures, methods and equipment, and ability to work with chemical cleaning solutions. • Must have valid drivers license, ability to operate a motor vehicle safely, and be willing to drive company vehicles for various assignment. Mental Abilities: Organizational skills to complete all tasks in a timely manner. Ability to independently carry out department objectives with only limited supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, dorm staff, clients, and other employees. Ability to do detailed and repetitive work with speed and accuracy. PROGRAM SUPERVISOR Job Category: Direct Care Administrator Location: Italian Home for Children, Jamaica Plain Campus Hours: Full-time, Day and Evening shifts, includes weekends Supervisor: Assistant Program Director Summary of Position: The Program Supervisor will provide supervisory and administrative functioning for The Italian Home for Children. They will help to ensure a therapeutic milieu and maximize clinical treatment of the children through their job responsibilities. In addition, the Program Supervisor will assist in improving overall programming in The Boston Center and Community and Residential Programs. Essential Functions: • Assist in interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and firing of personnel as deemed necessary. • Assist with payroll and schedule of milieu staff. • Maintain Attendance and Absence logs. • Provide regularly scheduled training and weekly individual and group supervision to milieu staff. • Provide House coverage as deemed necessary. • Assist with being the administrator on call. • Responsible for new employees’ six-month adjustment review and annual performance review. • Provide supervision and training to all milieu staff, including, relief and part-time staff as well as child care workers who may be experiencing disciplinary action in regards to job performance. • Monitor, perform and assist in providing physical intervention when needed. • Review and track all serious incident reports and restraint reports. • Ensure structure and safety of the therapeutic milieu while providing support and supervision of residents and milieu staff. • Prepare and/or assists in generating behavioral reports in all required formats. • Attend all Treatment Team meetings and conferences as assigned. • Create, implement, monitor, and evaluate behavior management programs for clients in conjunction with the treatment team. • Create, implement and monitor regularly scheduled community groups with the residents of the program. • Process concerns and incidents with staff and clients in an appropriate manner. • Assist with the intake process, including assuming on-call responsibilities as deemed necessary. • Assist and participate in outreach programs as deemed necessary. • Ensure efficient and timely record-keeping in accordance with Quality Assurance practices. • Assume the role of Medical Liaison for the residents of the program. UNIT COORDINATOR Job Category: Direct Care Location: Italian Home for Children, Jamaica Plain Campus Hours: Full-time, Day and Evening shifts, includes weekends Supervisor: Program Supervisor Summary of Position: The Unit Coordinator is directly responsible for the overall functioning of an assigned unit. The Unit Coordinator is responsible for managing all staff within their assigned unit including, maintaining regularly scheduled supervision, coordinating services with team members and ensuring an overall therapeutic milieu setting. In addition, the Unit Coordinator will assist in improving overall programming in The Boston Center and Community and Residential Programs. Essential Functions: • Direct management of assigned unit, including overall responsibility for the functioning and safety of the staff and clients. • Ensure that overall dorm responsibilities including activity programming, cleanliness, and ensuring all clients’ needs are met. • Provide weekly supervision to full-time and part-time staff assigned by the Program Supervisor. • Provide regularly scheduled training to milieu staff. • Plan and execute weekly milieu staff meetings. • Responsible for new employees’ six-month adjustment review and annual performance review. • Prepare and/or assist in generating behavioral reports in all required formats. • Attend all treatment meetings and conferences as deemed necessary. • Monitor, perform and assist in providing physical intervention when needed. • Create, implement, monitor and evaluate individualized treatment plans and behavior management programs for clients in conjunction with the treatment team. • Create, implement and monitor regularly scheduled community groups with the residents of the program. • Process concerns and incidents with staff and clients in an appropriate manner. • Assist with the intake process, including assuming on-call responsibilities as deemed necessary. • Assist and participate in outreach programs as deemed necessary. • Provide House coverage as assigned. • Meet the needs of the overall milieu, including adjusting schedules or dormitory assignments, crisis management, and shift coverage as deemed necessary. • Assist in training milieu staff throughout the program, including IHC behavior management/crisis intervention. • Maintain all record-keeping.
