INTENSIVE TREATMENT RESIDENCE

JAMAICA PLAIN

Residential Programming at Italian Home for Children is accredited and licensed as a 24/7 support for a child with mental health concerns, high-risk behaviors, trauma histories, and/or developmental challenges who needs a variety of therapies in a structured co-ed environment. We offer longer term care for average of 6-12 months, short term care for average of 1-2 weeks, and overnight/weekend respite at our Jamaica Plain campus to help with safety and stabilization.

Our main goal is to provide quality interventions that lead to the child returning to or obtaining a permanent home. Italian Home engages the whole family in treatment, whenever possible, to build the skills needed to strengthen their communication and interactions. The entire team, including natural supports, are engaged during a child’s stay so as to prevent further disruptions, such as canceled adoptions, foster placement changes, acute hospitalizations, emergency room visits, and other out of home placements. The child is viewed as an individual with his or her own personal strengths, successes, resiliencies, and areas for improvement. Hence, the assessment and treatment plans are tailored and treated as unique plans for each child.  Treatment goals focus on decreasing maladaptive behaviors while increased prosocial skills and higher functioning and independence.

Intensive Treatment Residence

The Intensive Treatment Residence (ITR) program is a longer term program that works with children ages 4-13 on the Jamaica Plain Campus.  Funded through DCF and DMH, this program serves up to 30 children who often have had multiple failed community placements or multiple hospitalizations/CBAT admissions.  The program accepts children who have a range of diagnoses including but not limited to PTSD, ADHD, ASD, ODD, Depressive and Mood Disorders, and Adjustments Disorders.

The goal of this program is to reunify the children with identified family members as quickly as possible.  All Group Home clients are assigned a Master’s level clinician and provided intensive individual, group, and family therapy throughout the duration of their stay. We work very closely with families to identify tailored treatment needs and necessary natural supports.
